I think the best way to earn money from your bog is adsense to start with and as your blog grows use a service like text link ads that will sell text links for your site.

If you have a high pr blog you can make a very large amount of money from text links as advertisers want a link on the high pr page.

adsense is probably one of the things you want to add at a later date as opposed to right from the onset for a few reasons:

1. regular readers aren't where your clicks come from, search visitors do most of the clicking.
2. it can take a good few months before you start to see any real noticable search traffic coming in

It definately won't hurt to put the adsense up right away but you're likely to find that it will take a long time before you see any money coming in. So to start it might be better to focus on other aspects of the site as opposed to trying to make a few pennies with adsense initially.

Text links can be a great source of revenue, but as you mentioned, since those are generally purchased for PR it will also take a while before you can implement those as well.

I make most of my money from TLA and direct ads in my blog. So I think I will remove those contextual ads later in future and fully focus on selling ads on my blog.

That is a good point about most adsense clicks coming from search traffic. But it still helps to get a little something to motivate someone at the very start.
