I have seen online where various places will pay you to blog, the only catch I think is that your blog has to be 3 months old or something. Has anyone ever done this? Pros cons?

I haven't done the pay per post thing. A lot of people get upset about it and say people are kind of cheating the blogosphere by doing that. If you do use payperpost, you are encouraged to disclose that on your blog so people know you are being paid to write certain posts.
My question though is... how is this different than someone being hired as a full time blogger? Those people get congratulated while people who use payperpost typically get lynched.

People getting paid to to blog don't have any self-interest in posting praise about a particular product. Payperpost is generally to promote specific products or services. Since you are being paid, your views may be skewed. Like, if BMW were to give me a car... I might be more likely to praise said car.
For the same reason, I'm leary of those who give high praise for a book and then embed amazon links for the referral. Is the high praise so that I buy the book and you get more money? Now, Amazon links are generally accepted these days (I've even added them myself).
As they say, money is the root of all evil. :)

I found that www.reviewme.com is a good place to start. I make a few hundreds dollar from there.

I don't see too much of a difference between full time blogger to someone who is payperpost. However I think I may have asked the question wrong or something, I am assuming when you say pay per post it is like when people come and post comments on your blog, right?

No, pay per post is where someone pays you to make a blog post. Let's say I wanted to hire snookca to make a post about this new forum. Chances are it would take a positive view because I am paying him. Hopefully it would take a positive view anyway :p

actually on pay per post, on each listing there is a 'tone' that the advertiser puts in with the description, most of them i've seen say neutral. i'm guessing this means they could put 'positive' on it or 'negative' too. i actually just blogged a short review about it on my blog after i realized PPP didnt wasnt working out for me as i thought it would.

There are a number of Malaysians fighting to write paid posts too, and what makes their blogs a turn off is that each time you read their blogs, the paid posts seem to be irrelevant to the whole blog. You're reading their personal views and all of sudden you come across this post asking you to write about Drug Rehabs.
And worse, we Malaysians don't have the chance to own the product, we merely read about it so the main objective of writing paid posts is to promote a certain products but if the bloggers switch their objective to JUST EARN MONEY ONLY, then the whole "promotion" loses its credibility. So I do not like payperpost although many people make quite a handsome profit from there. Still, my aim is to entertain people with my blog and not to drive people away with my irrelevant posts.

Yes you are right. This is why I never take any offers from payperpost and blogsvertise although there are a few requests each months.

If you're going to do "payperpost" you might as well cut out the chump paying you $5 and find something with a generous comission to pimp.

How would one find someone with a generous comission? Is there a website or keyword to search for?

usually they come to look for you instead, seeing as many dont wanna let it out that theyre paying for advertisement these days

Gotcha, so basically you should start your own blog and let the advertisers come to you instead of looking for them correct?

no, im just saying that normally the more generous offers you get are going to be from people who want your blog specifically - which means they came and contacted you. but once your blog gets really popular you will probably be able to set up a 'advertise' or 'sponsor me' page and they can contact you to make deals like i've seen on some websites and blogs
payperpost is like grabbing whatever is available which means there is less a chance they would pay you a good amount since they dont know what your blog is really worth until after you've done the post already and have been paid the agreed amount.

I did start a blog specifically about "making money online". It failed miserably. I wouldn't recommend it, as usually the people who write these are poor wanting to get rich, why would I accept money advice from somebody who is poor? It's like asking annorexic people for recipes, IMO.
However, if done correctly, Pay Per Post could be successful for all concerned. Just be choosy with your reviews!

I was in a "money making" forum where all the ads were adsense of basically scams. I pointed that out to the owner. It was undercutting his image. His answer was that he had no control over the ads. I am sure this unfortunate is doing poorly.

are you implying that anorexic people cant cook or have a recipe book ? they might not eat a lot but they still have tastebuds :)
most BLOGS about making money online talk about ways to make money and reviews of different services or ways that the author tried or recommendations, etc. most are not really giving advice about 'money' as in budgeting and financing.
