How long on average would you guess it takes you to make a new blog post? I'm talking the whole process from research to clicking on your blog and seeing it live. Also what part of the process for you is the most time consuming and which part do you dread most?

I dread the clicking Publish button most. Often when I get there and have done it all you just want it out and push publish only to realize the odd mistake or two.... Oooops!

I find that it can take anything from 10 minutes to 3 days to write a post.

By far the most time consuming part for me is coming up with an original idea and a joke. Although most of the time I forget about the joke part.

I don't think that I dread anything to be honest. But I always feel very tense waiting to see the response to the post, particularly if I have thought of a joke...

5-10 minutes the most .. I seem to write pretty fast, even with my normal typos :D

It totally depends...and I prefer 'not' to try to figure out how long I spend on some blog posts because the reality might be painful, lol.

I think my most dreaded part is finding pictures, uploading them to PB, and then uploading them to my posts. I like to have a graphic or two in my posts, but it can just be a pain at times when all I want to do is write up a post and move on.

Too long. It is strange, sometimes I can get an idea in my head and pound a good post out in 15 minutes, whereas other times I'll struggle and need a few days. But it is usually closer to the 1 hour range for an average.

Depends for me too. Sometimes I have ideas in my head but I have to really think about the content but other times can be really quick as well.

I'm closest to what Jeremy said. Depending on how long and hard I have to think on it, an idea may take anywhere from 15 minutes to weeks... months... years!!!! to get written. My saved posts is proof of that. Generally about an hour though– I do like to sleep on things over night if I have the time. It's always easiest to find mistakes with fresh eyes.

same with me too. Especially when it comes to talking about something in the current events/news. Theres no topic under the sun that you can come up with that someone else already hasn't done.

So finding a unique spin, an alternative view is the part that takes me the most time. Once I come up with a crazy idea, it doesn't take me very long to construct it.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter much, I've had 10 minute posts get hundreds and even thousands of views.

On the flip side, I've sat down and poured my heart out for 2 hours writing good stuff, and that post had 25 views and sank like a rock.

That's for about 250-500 words.

The part I hate is trying to find an image. I never know whether they look just awful. I've done a few now and no complaints so I'm not fretting about the look so much. Still hate trying to find them though.

I usually have an idea before I start writing. And I usually discover a thought or two as I write. I don't edit much as this would take up too much time. I write all my own posts so I only have so much time - I also have another job and then there is all the marketing and stuff to attend to.

I've always been comforable with words and I'm closer to 50 than 40. I have models and hope my blogs are improving and that I'm developing my own writing style. It's hard to know when it is your own stuff though.

It usually takes me about 5 -30 minutes to bang out a draft. Then an hour or so to tweak it and make sure it makes sense. Then some time to source an image (if I'm using one). Then I sleep on it. Then anything from 10 minutes to an hour to go through it one last time before posting it. Then usually a mad 5-10 minutes of fixing those damn spelling mistakes that I didn't notice until it went live...

Same here. Sometimes it only takes a couple of minutes - other times it takes days.

I have short update type posts which take a few minutes.

I have longer posts where I integrate photography. Those take several hours.

I have some photo slide shows which take many hours.

I have video posts where I send the tapes to a friend in the US and wait for it to get done.

Anywhere from 5-15 minutes for a personal post and 30 minutes to an hour for a commentary. Basically the more factual it is, the more likely I'm going to be spending time on it getting all the little details correct apart from making sure what I say isn't too long winded.

The actual writing process and nothing more? 10-15 minutes in general. If you mean from the inception of the idea, through the research, through the writing it can take days though generally a few hours. I used to crank them out in 20 minutes, but found doing my research and taking things to the next level really helps.

I timed my latest post just to see. It took best part of six hours; from initial pen on paper outline through to publishing. To be fair it is quite a long post, and I did have to fight with WP to get my code examples working.
