View Full Version : When you leave a comment on a blog under your "screenname"

Would you rather the author of the blog reply back to you under that same screenname or your actual name?
For instance, I know when Sara leaves me a comment under ses5909, I always reply back to her as "Sara" and not "ses5909."
Do you have a preference?

I think screen name would make more sense for other people trying to follow the conversation. But personally I wouldn't mind either way.

Yeah, kinda what I was thinking. I just get in a habit of calling the people that I know (at least in the online sense of the word) by their real name. :)
See, if everyone would just do what I do and use [first name][last name] for their screenname we wouldn't have this problem.

Well my screen name is my name and my surname initial so I tend to get 'Sarah' or 'SarahG' in my replies, either of which is fine. I tend to reply using people's real names. Afterall, you wouldn't call them by their screen name offline now ;)

A big reason I use ses5909 is on sight, alot of people will know who that is. But If I use "Sara Smith" people will have to do a little research. So I go with ses5909 for recognition purposes. and I don't care how you respond to me :D

Yeah that happens alot to me, probably because i know them from another forum but most of the time i try to stick with the screen name.

Well considering my blog connection is with my name, Jessi, it is one in the same. With other places, like forums, for example, I don't care what they call me. Using my name is more personal and I try to do that with other people to show them that I know who they are (and they're not just a username).....but I always make it clear who I'm referring back to (like by quoting or rephrasing part of what they said), so other people aren't left in the dark.

I agree with you Jessi. I think blog is a private site for all information related to blog owner. So the best way for us is to use the service meet our demand.

I've taken to using my real name to post comments, but I guess whatever name I used to post would be the name I would expect to see in the reply. Now I need to go check and see if I practice what I preach!
