Hi All!
I've just started a blog on wordpress (learnclubdance.wordpress.com) and I was wondering what steps I have to take to drop wordpress and own my own blog domain. I'm not a programmer so do I have to pay someone to customize the design?
Thanks

Yes, you would need to most likely pay someone to integrate it seamlessly into your current design. wordpress.com does provide a way for you to export all of your posts easily though once it is set up.
We can probably help you on the forums with getting your own version of wordpress set up under your own domain, but yeah, i think in order to integrate it into your design, you may need to hire someone. I know there are plenty of qualified people on this board so feel free to make a post in The Blogger's Back Table (http://www.theblogexperiment.com/blog-forum/forumdisplay.php?f=20)

Hello
I am no expert on WP.com there may be a way to add a domain to your account there. Then you just have to buy a domain name and figure out how WP.com works.
Otherwise you will need hosting, which can be both cheap and expensive depending on what you want.
Then you will need a domain name this is cheap, depending on where you buy it, a couple of dollars to $9.20 at GoDaddy.
Then you will have to dload (http://wordpress.org/download/), configure and install Wordpress (http://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress) form http://wordpress.org/
Wether you pay someone to create/customize the design is dependant on what you want vs your ability to create it. If you are happy with the default theme then it will work right out of the box, if you want to change it some/colors mainly there are options for doing this in the dashboard.
I will be glad to offer any advice I can before, during or after you have undertaken this task. :)
