Have you ever hosted a group writing project?

A writing project is an excellent way to get incoming links to your site. Have you ever thought of hosting a group writing project in your niche?

I love the idea. I was thinking about this as I drifted to sleep last night. I like the idea of doing themed group writing projects. Darren's pretty much set the standard in that department and the idea makes total sense. I want to participate in some of his future ones and hopefully start my own. Let me know if anyone does one here. If the topic is interesting I'll try to submit something!

I heard about one possible drawback of group writing projects - with writing accesses being given away this creates the blog an easy target for hack attacks.

But it is important to admit that this news was shared by the creator of plugin that solves the reported problem, and you understand that this person has some interest in the issue.

Still, I told what I heard and it's never bad to care more about extra security of your blog.

That's where the Contributo0r group come in handy on WordPress, they can post stuff but until you authorize it nobody can read it, then once they've proved they aren't a spammer with a few quality posts you can give them Author access so they can post straight to the blog :D

EDIT: Oh and I have been considering setting up a blog for people to get stuff off of their chests without without dumping a really bad rant onto their own blogs. But i doubt I'll ever do it :)
