Giving Credit

When someone else's blog "inspires" me for a blog post or a thread here, I try to give credit. At what point do you give credit though? If you're writing about the same topic? what if someone else's post just put a thought in your head, do you give credit then?

I'm usually pretty liberal with giving credit but I know a lot of people who never do. is there some kind of blogger moral to giving credit?

I tend to give credit whenever I'm posting in response to someone else's post, or if I'm using information from someone else's post. The big exception is when I'm responding in a negative manner. Then, I try to talk about whatever it was that set me off, without pointing to specific blogger(s).

I give credit quite liberally, too. I like giving linky love. And because people are nosy about their own stats, when they see they've been linked somewhere, they tend to come stop by my place, so it's nice in that way. I've made great friends through some of the people I merely linked to when they sparked an idea. Even if it doesn't happen with everyone, it's still nice to know that I've given them their fair share of credit.

I give credit too. If another person's blog inspired me, I'll link to it and if I find some decent 'further reading' on the same topic, I'll link to that too.

I try to give credit and if I research a topic, I do indicate my sources. Aside form what Google thinks, I believe that you have more authority when you do. It's better than trying to make people believe that everything you write comes off the top of your head.

I do give credit always and I link them to my blog... I like to respect other people's writings and work, as much as I want them to respect mine!

I give credit. Usually the more you give, the more you receive in the blogging world.

ooh i'm kinda bad about that. i forget that i should be giving credit....hmm i'll have to keep this in mind from now on.
